This course equips social workers, nurses, and health care professionals to strengthen pain management practices, including key principles of palliative care. Participants will examine responsible opioid and antipsychotic use and develop safer, more comprehensive approaches to chronic pain management.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss factors that influence the pain experience in older adults.
- Identify pathways for pain management across self-management, primary care, specialist care, and pain centers.
- Describe three steps in developing a comprehensive pain management plan: education, assessment, and treatment.
- List four coping skills that support residents with chronic pain.
