Social workers and other health care professionals are called upon to serve an ever-increasing volume of patients presenting with some form of dementia, whether due to impairments such as Alzheimer’s Disease, or due to brain injury. This course examines some of the memory care information currently available, and how we apply these theories into actual best practices. This seminar will focus on care recommendations that can make a significant difference in an individual’s quality of life: meaningful social work assessments; complementary pain management interventions and enhancing and enriching the lives of adults with dementia and family members with the use of social engagement.
